Residents if various schemes in Gilgil Subcounty will receive title deeds soon.
Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has revealed that plans are on towards the same.
She spoke on Tuesday October 14, 2025 when she held an interactive session with members drawn from settlement schemes in Gilgil to resolve five-decade-long land ownership issues at Munanda Police Grounds in Elementaita, Gilgil.
“I am happy to report to the settlement scheme members that the long wait is coming to an end, as we will start issuing them with title deeds within the next few weeks,” stated Kihika.
The settlements include Kiambogo, Miti Mingi, Eburru, Oljorai Phase 1, and Oljorai Phase 2.
Kihika used the moment to also thank President William Ruto for his timely intervention in this 50-year-old issue.
Meanwhile, it is good news to the settlement scheme members who have received a Sh30.6 million waiver in penalties and interest arising from loans they owe to the Land Settlement Fund.
Kihika added that her administration is also working to have 200 title deeds, meant for the Miti Mingi Block 2 scheme members and currently held by some officials, released to the rightful owners free of cost.
According to her, a total of 1,200 title deeds for members of the New Game Mutukanio Scheme will be ready by December.
This, she said as the county government work to resolve pending issues affecting the Kiambogo Block 4 Scheme before issuing title deeds to members.
A joint survey is to be undertaken to determine the boundary issue between Kiambogo block 4 and Kiriko Farm.
Kihika also assured Oljorai Farm residents of settlement and issuance of title deeds.
“I commit to the residents that we will find a final solution to land issues in Gilgil and Naivasha,” she said.
Kihika also used the moment to highlight development projects in the area, among them roads, water, health, markets, and education.
She reaffirmed her commitment to serve the people of Nakuru in a transformative way.
