A section of Nakuru town residents are crying foul even as the county kicked off distribution of relief food to vulnerable families.
The residents in Nakuru town East and West are alleging what they term as favoritism in the process of listing those to benefit form the programme.
According to them, the people tasked with the process of identifying people who are to receive the food donations have been listing their friends and relatives.
They are now accusing Members of county assembly and Chiefs of not doing due diligence in identifying real people who are vulnerable and in need of assistance.
“We have never seen them walk around where we live and all we hear is that a list has been complied,so how did they know who is vulnerable and who is not,” said a resident who sought anonymity.
They are now calling on Governor Lee Kinyanjui to halt the process and order fresh vetting and listing of who are truly vulnerable.
“The people who have made it to those lists are friends and relatives of the the same people doing the listing and not the people who deserve help,” said a resident.
On Monday Governor Lee Kinyanjui kicked off relief food distribution by donating food to memebrs of the Muslim community.
