RARE GESTURE: Royal Family Foundation visits Mother Kevin Hospital to appreciate doctors, nurses

It was joyful moment on Thursday February 27 as a charity group dubbed Royal Family Foundation made a visit to Mother Kevin Hospital in Nakuru West to appreciate doctors.

They made a donation of various items to be used by patients and medical officers at the facility as a way of recognizing the good work done by doctors.

The group that is made up of individuals from various churches from Rongai Sub County, visited the facility that took care of  one of their members who had a medical complication.

Mr. Joseph Maina had a health complication that saw him admitted at Mother Kevin Hospital in Nakuru West.

Speaking during the visit, Mr Maina lauded the medical officers at the facility for continuing to discharge their duties diligently.

He at the same time congratulated members of Royal Family Foundation for the gesture to appreciate doctors who are many a times forgotten despite the good work they do in society.
“We are very grateful for the gesture by this team to appreciate this doctors and nurses. They do a lot of work but then they are forgotten. I personally was in this facility and came out healed and that is why I felt that together with this team we visit this facility and just thank the staff,” he stated.

He at the same called on society to emulate such a gesture and always appreciate those working in various health facilities.

Sentiments echoed by his wife Lucy Wangari who stated that the Doctors are key in society.
She urged society to embrace doctors and always appreciate their work.
“Doctors are also human beings but professional. We need to appreciate them always,” she stated.
Royal Family Foundation CEO Daniel Kariuki revealed that they started the group in 2019 as few individuals from same school.
According to him, they began as drama club performing in schools and churches and visiting children’s homes.
They would later transform into Royal Family Foundation with focus on charity work as a way of giving back to society.
He adds that the name is derived from Bible 1st Peter 9 that talks about chosen generation.
With a membership of 30, Kariuki stated that they chose to visit and appreciate doctors at Mother Kevin Hospital in line with the Biblical story of 10 lepers where only one came back to give thanks.
“We want to do things in a unique way as the chosen generation. We want to have positive impact in society,” he stated.
Sentiments echoed by Margaret Mithanga who serves as a Treasurer Royal Family Foundation.
She challenged society not to be quick to judge medical officers among them doctors and nurses.
“Many people have survived through the hands of doctors but we rarely go appreciate the doctors,” she stated.

Sister Domitila Kili who spoke on behalf of the Mother Kevin Hospital lauded Royal Family Foundation for the gesture.

She pointed out that as a facility they continue to embrace charity works.
Meanwhile, she reiterated that the focus at the facility is on wholisitic approach where every staff counts.
“When a patient walks in Mother Kevin Hospital we ensure that wholisitic approach where every staff serves them from watchman at the gate to the Doctors,” she said.
During the event, the team also participated in a tree planting session at the facility.
