PS Muthoni receives citation of honor from global Clinical Officers’ body

Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni, has been awarded a Citation of Honour by the Global Association of Clinical Officers and Physician Associates (GACOPA) for her outstanding leadership in elevating the global visibility and mobility of Kenya’s health workforce.

The recognition coincides with a significant milestone—Kenyan Clinical Officers have now received official recognition from the UK’s General Medical Council (GMC), enabling them to register and practice in the United Kingdom.

This development not only expands international career prospects but also affirms Kenya’s reputation for high-quality health professional training.

Speaking during a strategic engagement with GACOPA ahead of the 5th International Delegates Conference (August 27–30, 2025, Aston University, UK), PS Muthoni reaffirmed the Ministry of Health’s commitment to formalizing collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and supporting the upcoming GACOPA UK conference as a key platform for health workforce development.

This partnership marks a significant step toward positioning Kenya as a leading hub for globally competitive healthcare professionals.
