A section of Nakuru bloggers aligned to Governor Lee Kinyanjui has literally perfected the art of shooting themselves in the foot.
The overzealous bloggers in a bid to please their master today ended up not only embarrassing themselves but also the governor in the process.
The pro-Lee bloggers had taken screenshots of two posts made by two bloggers said to be from different camps. One said to be a Governor Lee supporter had plenty of interaction on his post while the other one said to be a supporter of Senator Susan Kihika had far fewer interactions.
Governor Lee’s online supporters had a field day making fun of the comparison making praising one of their own while downplaying the said Senator’s supporter.
What they had not counted on was the same tactic they had employed being used to compare the two leaders.
“You said online interactions are a proof of popularity. Who is laughing now?” posted a Senator’s supporter who posted a juxtaposition of two screenshots one from the Governor’s Facebook page and the other from the Senator’s Facebook page.
Both posts had been made on 15th June just 20 minutes apart. The posts made to mark and wish the Muslim community a happy Eid Mubarak. While the Governor’s post had attracted a mere 55 reactions and four comments, the Senator’s post had over 1,400 reactions, 22 comments and 28 shares.
“Lee’s bloggers never saw this coming,” commented a resident who was following the drama on WhatsApp. The rejoinder forced pro-Lee bloggers to take cover in shame hastening to change the topic. Unfortunately, the damage had already been done.
