President Ruto affirms Government’s commitment towards empowerment of youth

President William Ruto has affirmed Government’s commitment towards empowerment of youth.

Speaking in Nakuru Town on Friday January 9, 2026 during the launch of phase 2 of NYOTA Fund, the Head of state was categorical that government will vontoonue to ensure young people are part of national development.

According to President Ruto, young people are the country’s most treasured resource and his administration has them at heart.

“We are strategically investing in our youth because they are our country’s most treasured resource. The opportunities we are creating are both for young people with various skills, knowledge and competencies and even those who have not had a chance to go far in school,” he stated.

The President launched the disbursement of over KSh245 million in NYOTA business start-up capital for Nakuru, Baringo, Narok, Bomet and Kericho counties at the Nakuru ASK Showground.

A total of 9,847 successful applicants received the initial KSh22,000 each, with an additional KSh3,000 deposited into the beneficiaries’ Haba Na Haba savings accounts at the National Social Security Fund.

During the event, the President also took an issue with a section of leaders whom ge saud are out to misuse young people.

According to Ruto, such leaders have no room to be entrusted with leadership.

“Our young people need to be supported to earn a living and improve their livelihoods. Let’s not use them for political gains and selfish interests,” he said.

The President was accompanied by various cabinet secretaries, MPs and hosted by Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika alongside Nakuru MPs.

Later, the Head of State headed to Mogotio sub county of Baringo County where he launched a number of projects.
