An elderly man died early Wednesday after he was knocked down by a speeding lorry along Geoffrey Kamau way in Nakuru town.
According to eye witness, the unidentified man was crossing the road when the speeding lorry hit him.
“The lorry driver noticed the man at a close distance and despite him applying emergency brakes he had already knocked down the man fracturing his skull” one witness said.
Police had difficult time controlling a huge traffic along the usually busy highway.
Eye witnesses blamed the accident on over speeding with one of the eye witnesses saying that some members attempted to flag down the speeding lorry but the driver ignored.
They however called on the Government to ensure speed bumps are erected on the busy Highway.
The driver escaped immediately after the accident.
Police took the body to the Nakuru county government mortuary as investigations commence.
