Today marks exactly one year since the the crash of an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 Max.
It has not been a journey of roses for the families that lost their loved ones but that of grief, anger and determination.
The crash that claimed 157 lives has left numerous scars in families.
Nakuru County was greatly hit after loosing 7 lives in the crash with 5 among them being from one family of John Quindos Karanja.
The death of the five left the village of Kwa Amos village in Bahati, Nakuru County
But the scars of the crash still fresh in Quindos Karanja’s life.
The pain, pain of losing wife Anne Wangui (60), firstborn daughter Caroline Nduta(34) and three grandchildren age 7,4 years and the other 9 months.
“I lost my loved ones and the scars are still within my family” said Quindos.
Lawyer Irungu Kang’ata who is representing the families that lost that their loved ones in the crash, already the matter is being followed up.
The Lawyer who is also the Senator for Murang’a is optimistic that justice will prevail and the families will have justice.
“We are hopeful that before this year ends we shall have justice for the families|”said Senator Kang’ata.
He is however quick to note that some of the affected families have received compensation from Airlines Boeing with no terms and conditions.
He says this will not interfere with the ongoing case and called on the families and Kenyans at large to be patient until the case is concluded.
“There is compensation that was given and we have families that have received compensation through the company’s insurance but we should not hurry the case is still on” said Kang’ata.
The lawyer also taking the opportunity to send condolences to the families that lost their loved ones in the crash.
