The event that will be held at Maisha Initiative Kenya centre is open to the general public and will happen between 10:00 AM and 2 PM. Maisha Initiative Kenya centre is located in Section 58 opposite Menengai Primary School in the outskirts of Nakuru Town.
According to one of the event organisers Ms Tabitha Murugi, the event is meant to sensitise the general public on breast cancer and how it can be prevented.
“The theme for that day is “Early Detection of Breast Cancer is possible”.” This means that will early detection, it is easier to prevent the debilitating effects of breast cancer,” says Tabitha.
The organiser adds that those attending will benefit from free breast cancer testing and training on how they can be self-examining themselves for breast cancer.
Participants will have a chance to ask any questions they may have from a panel of medical experts who will also address them on issues pertaining to breast cancer.
“We are inviting all especially women of reproductive age who are most susceptible to breast cancer. We will also be having some breast cancer survivors who will act as a motivation to others who may be infected,” says Tabitha.
To make the event a success, Uzima Health Foundation is partnering with professional doctors, qualified nurses who will be carrying out the tests, Maisha Initiative Kenya and the Nakuru Hospice.
