A countrywide power outage has hit Kenya this morning. The Nationwide blackout has been in place since a few minutes to 6 AM.
According to a statement provided by the national power provider, KPLC, the outage was caused by a “system disturbance.”
“We have lost power supply in the national grid due to a system disturbance which occured on our transmission network at 5:49 AM this morning,” read the Kenya Power company statement.
The company has however assured Kenyans that their engineers are working to identify and address the problem.
The power outage could not have come at a worse time as most Kenyans have to stay and work from home where having electricity connectivity is an essential. With more and more jobs, meetings and studies being done online, the power outage is a huge blow to the operations of many people.
The statement issued by KPLC has not specified when power is expected back. The company through their corporate communications department has however promised to give regular updates.
