The goverment has announced the resumption of security operations in Baringo and Turkana counties following fresh banditry attacks.
Riftvalley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya said this time round the operation will be ruthless to wipe out the bandits.
Natembeya who addressed media at his office in Nakuru on Tuesday was categorical that the bandits have been organizing attacks in Baringo, Turkana and Laikipia counties.
The announcement by Natembeya follows what he termed failed approach by political leaders from the areas to conduct a one month peace campaign and voluntary disarmament.
“The political leaders and what we had agreed has recorded minimal results and that’s why we are saying that as from tomorrow the dusk to to dawn curfew as well as security operations is in place in that area” be said.
He slammed a section of local leaders for derailing government efforts to restore sanity in the area.
According to Natembeya,a move by area political leaders to give solution to banditry attacks within 30 days has been fruitless with only three guns having been returned.
It is for this reason that he said the goverment will now move in with force to restore sanity.
