The Deputy President, Hon Rigathi Gachagua, highlighted Nakuru County’s advantage in implementing the affordable housing initiative, saying it has unique advantages.
Speaking during the Kenyan Urban Forum (KUF) 2023 closing ceremony held at Lake Naivasha Resort from the 14th to 16th of June this year, the Deputy President expressed his confidence, saying Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika had all it takes to achieve the dream.
He referred to the county as lucky for having a Governor who is familiar with urbanization, and passionate about the affordable housing plan.
“Nakuru should not have a problem with affordable Housing. Your Governor is an urbanite who is well travelled and has seen the world,” said the DP.
The Deputy President also pointed out that the Cabinet Secretary for Housing Zack Njeru and PS Charles Hinga, are from Nakuru adding to the County’s exceptional advantage. He lightly reminded the Government Officials that charity begins at home and before convincing the rest of the country that they can build houses; they should first do that in Nakuru.
“Nakuru I think is sorted, we’ve got a good team and I think we should have enough houses, affordable to dignify the people, not just of Nakuru but the people of Kenya,” Hon Rigathi Gachagua.
The Deputy President expressed his confidence in Nakuru since it is cosmopolitan. People from other communities will want affordable houses, making the initiative beneficial to all.
