Nakuru MCA charged with malicious damage to property and incitement

Menengai East Ward representative Wilson Mwangi was on Thursday charged before a Nakuru Court with malicious damage to property and incitement.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Josephat Kalo, Mwangi was charged that on August 21 at Hyrax area jointly with others not before court willfully and unlawfully destroyed a perimeter wall valued at Sh 1.7 million property of Tsandrakent Vircland.

He faced a second count of incitement to violence the same day without lawful excuse uttered words ‘Let us destroy this perimeter wall, it was reserved as a public utility land’.

The Nakuru MCA denied the charges and sought to be released on bond.

The magistrate in his ruling released the accused on a Sh 200,000 bond or an alternative cash bail of Sh 100,000 pending mention of the matter on November 12.

The land is adjacent to Mediheal Hospital in Nakuru.

Mwangi is accused of leading residents of Menengai East Ward in Nakuru East Sub County to pull down a perimeter wall contrary to the law.
