Mr. Algias Kasembeli in an interview with famousnakuru.co.ke revealed that the Organization was started to bridge a gap that was there especially on matters and challenges facing men in society.

He points out that for many years society has neglected men and boys despite the challenges that they go through as humanbeings.

Started nine years ago, Mr. Kasembeli says The Herd Men Kenya has continued to serve as a platform and haven of hope for men who go through numerous challenges.

He revealed that what started as his personal challenge in life and he battled through King Jesus and conquered is now a hope for many men in society.

“I saw the gap. Men were going through several challenges without any avenue to speak out and that is why I started this organization as a platform for men to share their issues and support each other,” he said.

But why the name?

Well, just like buffaloes, who use their numbers to form a united community, The Herd Men – Kenya adopted the same concept.

Mr. Kasembeli argues that The herd is a community where men can draw together in an environment with other men where they can open up to each other, can talk and share about their lives, the good things that are going on, and the struggles that they’re having.

Weaker animals in the herd move to the middle while the healthy and stronger ones move to the outside to form a protective barrier.

It is a place where they can come and open up their hearts to other men and live together under the kingship of Savior and King, Jesus Christ.

The Founder revealed that since formation of the The Herd Men Kenya, many men have been saved and their burdens done away with.

The group meets at their office dubbed ‘the Watering hole’ situated in Teachers’ Estate in Menengai East Ward of Nakuru Town East Constituency.

Though started with less than five men, the membership has grown to the current 500 plus, with branches already in Eldoret, Bungoma, Kitale, Busia, Migori, Homabay, Nanyuki, Port Victoria, Kehancha, Naivasha, Sangalo, Chwele, Mwanza, Dar-es-salam, Uganda, and soon in Zambia.

Mr. Kasembeli adds that the Organization is focusing on empowerment through skills for youth, mentorship etc.

“We want to keep the youngmen engaged to avert idleness that might lead them to drugs and susbtances,” he said.

He challenges young men and men even those in marriages to come out and speak of the challenges they are facing in society.

This, he says is the only way to ensure a better society with no burdens in life.
