A Nakuru Member of County Assembly has been lauded for sponsoring a Bill on Access to Information.

MCA Anthony Kamau Kanyere alias Geru of Nakuru East Ward in Nakuru Town East Constituency is the sponsor of the Bill.
The Bill seeks to ensure Nakuru residents have a right to access information from government institutions.
This is domestication of Article 35 of the Kenya Constitution that talks of the same.
Through the Bill, the MCA seeks to ensure that there are no obstacles whenever a resident is seeking any information of public concern.

Laban Omusundi- who has been engaging in matters law and public petitions, says this is a plus to Nakuru residents.
He argues that the Nakuru County Access to Information Bill, sponsored by Nakuru East Ward MCA Anthony Kamau Kanyere Geru, is a critical step toward ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of public affairs in the great County County of unlimited opportunities, which must be accessible to all, not just the well-connected few.
“By domestically implementing Article 35 of the Constitution of Kenya at the County level, this bill marks one of the most significant milestones in our democratic journey. We must commend and celebrate Hon. Geru for taking the initiative to empower the public with the right to access information,” stated Omusundi.
The vocal Nakuru activist urged all residents of Nakuru County to support this bill and actively participate in its public consultation phase when the opportunity arises.
According to Omusundi, this is an avenue to open up county governance, ensuring that the unlimited opportunities in Nakuru are shared equitably.
“There is enough for all of us to eat and be satisfied in this County of Nakuru—if only transparency leads the way,” he said.
