In his address, Kones called on all the stakeholders in the sector as well as the community to harness the power of digital tools to enhance the wildlife conservation.

He noted that with the advancement in technology, there is need to tap the same knowledge into wildlife conservation.

This is in line with this year’s theme ‘Connecting People and Planet: Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation’

“It is a clarion call that leveraging technologies can achieve greater efficiency in enhancement monitoring and protection of our natural heritage,” noted the DG.

The DG was accompanied by CECM for Environment Dr. Nelson Maara who reiterated the need for wildlife conservation.

Nakuru County boasts of hosting several members of the Big 5;  Lion, Leopard, Rhino and Leopards.

It is not only known as a home for a variety of plants but also internationally recognized for the iconic flamingoes of Lake Nakuru as well as aquatic bodies that are home to several endangered species of plants and animals.

The event was also attended by Richard Koech (Chief Officer, Tourism and Culture), Joseph Dadacha (Assistant Director, KWS), Flamingo Ward MCA David Muraya Muna among others.
