Nakuru County has no single confirmed case of corona virus-health officials

Nakuru County has no single confirmed case of coronavirus.

This is according to the officials from the health department led who addressed during the second day of media training on coronavirus.

Led by Nakuru County County Director of medical services Dr.Benedict Osore and his Deputy Dr.Daniel Wainaina, they called for calmness in Nakuru saying so far no single case of Covid-19 has been confirmed.

“We do not have a case so far….we have three cases with one already confirmed negative while the others are results in waiting,” said Dr.Wainaina.

He called on Media to assist deliver the right information to members of the public.

In terms of preparedness, the health official stated that the county health department was fully prepared to deal with any situation arising.

He reiterated that already an isolation ward has been set aside at Nakuru Level 5 facility as well as Naivasha Level 4 facility.

“We have no case confirmed in Nakuru so far but as a county, we are prepared. We are working with the National Government on the same” said Dr.Wainaina.

Similar sentiments echoed by Dr.Osore who reiterated the need for everyone on board including media.

The Director of Medical Services also calling on media to ensure correct information that will lead to right measures.

“On this issue of coronavirus, the mode of transmission is the tricky part but as a country, we are prepared on how to handle it. As journalists, it’s always good to countercheck before publishing. We expect the right information to be shared across the board” he said.

Dr.Osore also calling on members of the public to ensure that they observe general sanitation which he termed key in addressing the issue.

According to him, already MOH has taken counties through the training.

Director of Public Health and sanitation Dr.Elizabeth Kiptoo clarifying that with the coronavirus issue the health department is equipped to deal with three cases which are Confirmed case, suspected case and Contact case.

She revealed that Nakuru County so far has quarantined a total of 8 persons with 4 already released and three still waiting for results.
