Nakuru County has been selected as one of the focus counties for the USAID ‘Tamatisha TB’ project, an initiative designed to accelerate Kenya’s progress toward achieving End TB targets.
The project aims to transform TB prevention, diagnosis, and treatment through innovative approaches while addressing the needs of key populations such as children, men, and adolescents.
The project’s strategies include targeted case finding, contact investigations, and non-sputum diagnostics to improve early detection.
It will also provide child and adolescent-friendly TB services, promote school-based TB programs, and expand community-based TB prevention therapy (TPT).
Additionally, the initiative integrates TB care with non-communicable disease (NCD) services, enhances healthcare financing, and focuses on treatment literacy and stigma reduction.
“With a patient-centered approach, we commit to fully support this project with emphasis on predictive hotspot identification and sustainability through community-led efforts,” said County Executive Committee Member for Health, Roselyn Mungai during the entry meeting.
