Muslims in Nakuru gather in unity at Afraha stadium for Eid-ul-Adha prayers with calls for political tolerance in the country

Muslims in Nakuru gathered in large numbers at Afraha Stadium on Friday for Eid-ul- Adha prayers.
Unlike before when prayers were held in different venues, this time round the Muslim Community gathered at one venue Afraha Stadium signifying the unity of the Muslims in Nakuru.
The event was organized by Nakuru Muslim Association in partnership with Biashara Ward MCA Fadhili Msuri.
Leaders who graced the event called for political tolerance in the country.

Speaking after the prayers, Nakuru Muslim Association Chairperson Faez Ahmed Nasher lauded the unity of the Muslim Community in Nakuru.

He pointed out that the last time the prayers were held at one venue was 7 years ago, adding that today’s gesture is a clear indicator of the unity of the Muslim Community in Nakuru.

Nasher also used the moment to call on leaders and Kenyans at large to embrace peace and unity ahead of 2027 general polls.

He also called on Muslims in Nakuru to pray for those in Palestine so that peace may prevail.
“We are thanking Allah for enabling us to meet as one community. We have never met like this for the last 7 years, but now we have shown unity,” stated Nasher.

Sentiments echoed by Nakuru MCAs Fadhili Msuri(Biashara) and Aden Hassan Duale(Nominated).

The duo maintained that Nakuru is a cosmopolitan County that should not allow politics of tribalism to divide the residents.
MCA Fadhili used the moment to appeal to Nakuru residents to continue embracing peace.
On the issue of gangs in Nakuru Town, Fadhili said they have raised the issue with security team seeking answers on the same.
“As Muslim Community in Nakuru we have made strides and that is why today we gather here as one. I wish all Eid Mubarak and call on all to embrace peace,” he stated.

MCA Duale on his part called in Muslims in Nakuru to continue embracing unity moving forward.

The UDA’s Nominated MCA also used the moment to rally Nakuru residents to support the government of the day and avert political divisions.
“We have some people who are going round trying to divide Kenyans but we shall not accept such,” he stated.
Former Nakuru Mayor Mohammed Suraw who also graced the prayers reiterated that Muslims in Nakuru are united and will continue to embrace peace.
On political happenings in the country, the former Mayor was categorical that Nakuru still has the scars of post election violence, and no one would like to go back to the old days.
The Former Mayor also called security team in Nakuru to up their game in addressing the insecurity issues within and without the city.
He pointed out that, no business can thrive in an insecure environment.
“We are telling the security team in Nakuru that time is now they wake up from slumber. We need a secure city,” he stated.
The leaders also called on youths to ensure they register for National IDs.
Eid Al-Adha is celebrated on the third day of Hajj.
It is also known as the Feast of the Sacrifice in the Islamic Calendar.
