MP sounds stern warning to ‘fake police’ harassing Bodaboda operators

Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama has condemned individuals who are impersonating as arresting officers and harassing Motorbike Bodaboda operators.

Speaking on Monday during a security meeting with the operators, the MP termed such a move as criminal calling on security agents to act with speed and arrest such individuals.

“Actually those impersonating police officers should be arrested and I have told the Deputy county commissioner and even the OCPD to act” said Arama.

On the welfare of the Motorbike operators in Nakuru Town West, the legislator stated that they have agreed to work closely with security agents in ensuring smooth operation.

He said to begin with, they will ensure the security of the operators through insurance of all the motorbikes.

“We have discussed a lot of issues affecting the operators and we shall look on how they can get insurance” said Arama.

Nakuru Town West Deputy County Commissioner Elmi Shaffie while recognizing the role played by the Bodaboda sector in providing employment to many youths said the government will continue to sensitize the operators on their safety.

The administrator warning that those who will be found not complying with the road safety regulations will face the law.

“We know the role played by Bodaboda sector towards our youths but as government we shall continue to sensitize them on safety. Those who fail to comply with traffic regulations will face the law” said the DCC.
