MP Kathambi tells off those opposed to NG-CDF as she launches Bursary worth Sh 70M

Njoro Member of Parliament Charity Kathambi has reiterated the key role played by NG-CDF in transformation of education sector.

Kathambi noted that the kitty has helped Parents who have been going through a lot of challenges.

According to her, through NG-CDF kitty,  bursary disbursement has continued to give gives hope to parents on matters education and transformation of learning institutions.
She was speaking on Friday May 16, 2025 during the launch of NG-CDF  bursary disbursement for the 2025/2026 Financial Year.

A total Sh 70m will benefit learners in this tranche of disbursement.

The funds will benefit learners in Dayschools, Tertiary institutions, as well as Technical Institutions.
The Lawmaker noted that there has been several cases on NG-CDF that led to the current bill that seeks to entrench NG-CDF, NGAAF and Senate Oversight Fund into Constitution.
She added that as Lawmakers, they will continue to do all the amendments needed to ensure the kitty continues to benefit more needy students in society.
“We have had numerous challenges from some people who want to scrap off NG-CDF but as Lawmakers we are saying we have seen what this kitty has done and we shall defend it and ensure it is fully anchored in Constitution. I know not everyone can benefit but we shall continue to strive to ensure prudent use of the funds,” she stated.
While noting that A times there are delays by Treasury to disburse the funds, the Njoro Lawmaker called on school heads to be lenient with learners and not send them home.
The Lawmaker was categorical that her office will not allow interference with the matters bursary disbursement and there is no room for sideshows.
On matters education, she said it is so saddening that some parents still allow their children stay at home even when the fee has been paid, an issue the Lawmaker said should come to an end.
At the same time, Kathambi noted that Teenage pregnancies in Njoro is still a challenge.
According to her, there is need for  concerted effort as a society to end the menace.
She revealed that there are some retrogressive cultures that are contributing to this and called on parents to help in addressing the same by shunning the retrogressive cultures.
Kathambi at the same time lauded President William Ruto’s administration for intervening in the land issues in Njoro touching on Kenya Forest Service.
According to her, the move taken by Government to resettle the residents through boundary delimitation for Mau complex will go a long way in ensuring peaceful coexistence.
Sentiments echoed by Njoro Deputy County Commissioner Mokin Ptangwany.
The DCC sounded  stern warning to Parents who have failed to ensure their children are in school.
“If you are a parent and you are allowing your child not to be in school be warned that we are coming for you and we shall initiate prosecution. There is no reason forever for a child to remain at home when we have bursary in place,” he stated.
The DCC revealed that some areas of Njoro have challenges of high dropout.
According to the Administrator, already all local administrators led by Assistant County Commissioners have been directed to ensure that is addressed.
On Mau complex, the DCC sounded a stern warning to individuals conning Kenyans with some new lists claiming that they will be resettled.
“We have people going around conning residents that we have parcels of land being allocated in the area. Let me make it clear that we have no land being allocated by Government in Mau and those who are conning residents we are coming for you,” he stated.
