Njoro Member of Parliament Charity Kathambi on Monday became the first Lawmaker to lead the inspection of a dam in Njoro as per Government’s directive.
The government through Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof.Kithure Kindiki directed that all dams in the country including public and private be inspected to asses their standards.
This follows the ongoing heavy downpour that has caused havoc, the latest being in Naivasha’s Mai Mahiu.
In line with the directive, MP Kathambi’s office together with Njoro Sub county Deputy County Commissioner and Njoro Sub county DCIO inspected the Bliss Dam in Njokerio.
“Today, My office, The Njoro Subcounty DCC and Njoro Subcounty DCIO inspected the Bliss Dam in Njokerio as per today’s Government Directive,” Kathambi stated in a communication to Newsrooms on Monday April 29, 2024.
According to the Lawmaker, the officers were taken through the Dam and were assured of the safety by the Flower Farm’s authority.
Kathambi assured constituents that National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA), the Local administration, the county security and intelligence committees (CSICs) will continue to do the inspection of all the dams, during this heavy downpour, within the Njoro constituency to ascertain the safety as directed by the Ministry of Interior.
