MP Gikaria faults Governor, County Commissioner over Covid-19 measures

Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria has faulted Governor Lee Kinyanjui and the County Commissioner for the way they are implementing anti-covid-19 measures.

In a statement released to the public, the MP accused Lee Kinyanjui and Erastus Mbau of concentrating all their efforts on his constituency.

“There is no county called Nakuru Town East. Covid-19 happens to be a pandemic affecting the whole world but the two gentlemen are implementing measures only in Nakuru Town East,” read part of the statement released on Thursday.

The MP wants the displaced business operators in Nakuru town to be allowed back to their original places of operation.

“Nakuru Town East residents are small business people from Wakulima market, Nasher market, matatu stages, hawkers bodabodas and now online taxis operators,” said the MP.

“They are suffering from misinformed decision because of city status,” he added.

Hon. Gikaria says that provided they observe the laid down health guidelines, the operators should be allowed to go back to their original places of trading.

“The national government is also reviewing its earlier directives because Kenyans are suffering,” says the MP adding that the County government of Nakuru also needs to review the harsh measures it has put in place.
