
Beneficiaries of Uwezo Fund kitty from Nakuru Town West Constituency, have been urged to repay the loans on time to increase their credit worthiness.
The call was made by area Member of Parliament Samuel Arama during the issuance of Uwezo Fund cheques to various women and youth groups.
The law maker reminded beneficiaries that this is a revolving fund that needs to be paid within the stipulated time.
This, he said will enable more beneficiaries as well enable groups qualify for more.
“Those who get this fund should be prudent to pay on time so that other groups can also benefit as well increase credit worthiness,” stated Arama.
He called on local administrators to also help in sensitizing beneficiary groups on the need to repay the money on time.
Arama also challenged youth groups to be disciplined and use the fund for their economic empowerment.
He revealed to them how he used to operate kiosk business in his early days and would wake up early and sort out a number of things before embarking on other duties.
“We just need to be disciplined abd work hard even from our humble backgrounds. You cannot receive this money and just use it for other luxuries rather than business,” he warned.
Meanwhile, he lauded women groups that have continued to repay their loans on time.
While pointing out that his joy is to see a transformed society, the lawmaker said his legacy remains in ensuring all children from humble background access education adding that soon the NG-CDF office shall be issuing out bursary forms for Form ones.
Under his leadership, Form ones are paid for full school fees for the first term.
“We can only eradicate poverty by ensuring our children are in school no matter their backgrounds,” stated Arama.
On the current harsh economic times, Arama called on constituents not to castigate leaders but rather work closely with all elected leaders towards finding a solution to the ailing economy.
He urged constituents to support government of the day adding that even though he was elected on Azimio ticket, will continue to work with the government of the day towards development.
Arama also lauded the local administrators in Nakuru West for the enhanced security.
He revealed that he is in talks with Governor Susan kihika to see on how to address the issue of afew illicit brewers who have continued to mess the lives of young people.
“We shall have a meeting with Governor Susan Kihika and the illicit brewers so that we can see on how to have them engage in alternative businesses rather than the illicit brew,” he said.
