At least 68 families affected by floods in Nakuru Town West Constituency have found reprieve after area Member of parliament Samuel Arama and Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika committed to pay a two months rent for them.
The families were displaced from their houses in Rhonda and Mwariki estates after their houses were flooded following heavy rains that have been witnessed in Nakuru in the past weeks.
On Sunday Arama donated mattresses and assorted food items for the affected families in the two estates who are camping at a local church and government office grounds.
The two leaders have already secured rental houses where the affected families will be relocated.
Nakuru human rights network Chairman Simon Nasieku thanked the leaders for their gesture and called on more well-wishers to come forth and assist the affected families.
Nasieku noted that sanitary towels and tissue papers were needed most by women and girls who had been displaced from their houses.
