Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama has challenged youth and Kenyans at to have hope as a driving vehicle in their lives.
In an interview with a local media house on March 2, 2024, Arama revealed how hope in life has shaped who he is today.
He narrated how he had hope that despite his humble background and difficulty in paying even school fees, he would be a great person in society and even own a home.
And true to his words, the MP revealed how his wife convinced him at one particular time to own a house.
“Despite my humble background, I was optimistic that one day I will even stay in my own home, and that’s why sometimes back my wife came to me and told me we need to do something as most of her colleague at work were staying in their own homes. Through a loan she secured and I added something, we were able to own a home,” he said amidst smile.
Arama added that the hope he had is what still drives him.
Currently, he expressed optimism that one day he will be a Governor.
When asked when, the Lawmaker said he is not sure of time but he remains optimistic that indeed one day he will be a governor.
“I cannot say when or which period but one thing is that I am sure I will be a Governor even if it is 2027, 2032 or 2037,” he stated.
In the past, the MP has on several occasions hinted at contesting for gubernatorial seat in his home county Nyamira where he has already commenced community charity work assisting the vulnerable.
However, a section of his Nakuru West constituents have appealed to him not to go to Nyamira.
Sentiments that were echoed by Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika during the launch of KISIP phase 2 projects in London Ward,Nakuru West.
A bird also whispers that the Lawmaker might be a possible Deputy to Kihika in 2027.
But Arama himself says he is best suited for even Cabinet Secretary or Chief Administrative Secretary posts.
“Having served as an MP for three consecutive terms, I think I am up to the task of even becoming Interior CS and work like my brother Matiang’i, or even CAS position,” he stated during the interview.
The third term serving MP has continued to give hope to many learners from poor backgrounds through full scholarships.
He has always ensured that every learner is in school as per the government policy.
Recently, in Parliament he sought a Ministerial statement from Education CS Ezekiel Machogu on why some school heads were withholding certificates of learners who have fee balances.
The MP argued that this hinders the learners from proceeding with their studies or even applying for jobs whenever opportunities arise.
A matter that the CS responded stating that it is illegal as per the law and that any case of such shall be dealt with.
Arama who was elected on Azimio ticket, has vowed to support the Kenya Kwanza government under the leadership of President William Ruto.
At the county level, he has a good rapo with Governor Susan Kihika who was elected on UDA party.
According to Arama, once elections are over, leaders should put aside their political differences and work together for prosperity
