Nakuru-based MIDRIFT HURINET has reiterated commitment towards actualization of UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on matters youth involvement in peace and security matters.
MIDRIFT HURINET has been holding community Dialogue forums in various Wards of Nakuru Town West and Nakuru Town East Constituencies.
The forums were facilitated by MIDRIFT HURINET and the GIZ,German International Cooperation in Nakuru Town West and Nakuru Town East.
The forums saw a compelling narrative of youth inclusion in peace and governance emerge as framed squarely within the aspirations of UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace, and Security.
According to MIDRIFT HURINET, these forums provided young people with a rare and transformative space to articulate their lived realities and propose solutions to challenges affecting their security, civic engagement, and socio-economic well-being.
Speaking during one of the forums, Calvin Muga from MIDRIFT HURINET stated that through these engagements, MIDRIFT HURINET has demonstrated a deliberate and strategic commitment to actualizing the five pillars of Resolution 2250: participation, protection, prevention, partnerships, and disengagement and reintegration.
In addition, under the GIZ,German International Cooperation-supported program, the organization has amplified youth voices in governance processes, strengthened their role in early warning systems, and embedded them in community policing structures and peace committees.
By anchoring its work within Articles 10, 55, and 232 of the Kenyan Constitution, which emphasize youth inclusion, accountability, and public participation, MIDRIFT HURINET responds to global peace frameworks and reinforces the domestic rule of law and constitutionalism.
This nexus of local action and international commitment affirms that peace is sustainable only when young people are recognized as co-creators of secure, just, and resilient societies.
