Middle aged woman arrested for beating her son with a metal bar

Police in Subukia Township have arrested a middle aged woman for beating up her 13 year old son using a metal bar on Tuesday night.
Mary Wanjiru was arrested at around 8.00pm Tuesday night after a passerby broke into her house after he was attracted by cries from her son who was at the time of the beating tied with a nylon rope.
Benson Mburu a pupil at Our lady of Victory primary school in Subukia narrated how her mother threatened him that she would kill him for failing to fetch water on Monday .
“I opted to sleep away from home for fear of being killed and I only returned home yesterday where my mother descended on me with a metal bar before a good Samaritan came to my rescue” he said.
James Kimani Kariuki a pastor from Holy Birishiba church in Nyahururu said that he broke into Wanjiru’s house and rescued the boy where he took him to a private hospital in Subukia town where he was treated and asked to return today.
“The boy suffered injuries on the head left arm and left leg. I recorded a statement at Subukia police station where police informed me that they would be calling me later to testify before a court of law after the suspect is charged” he said.
The pastor said that the woman appeared furious and kept on insisting that he wanted to murder his son for disobeying her.
Subukia OCPD Alex Ng’ang’a confirmed on phone that the woman was in police custody and would be charged in a court of law.
