MCK urges content creators to maintain professionalism

The Media Council of Kenya has urged content creators to maintain professionalism in their work.

Media Council of Kenya Rift Valley Regional Co-ordinator Joseph Mecha says content creators are also key in relaying  information to the masses.

Speaking in Nakuru on Wednesday March 20, 2024 during a meeting with content creators, Mecha also called for the need for them to ensure their publication sites are registered with Media Council for easy monitoring adding that registration also comes with benefits such as being recognized as well as being able to get adverts.

He noted that situation is moving from the normal newsroom Journalism to content creation.

According to Mecha, moving forward MCK will be organizing training for content creators in Nakuru so that they can be accredited upon completion of training.

Accredited content creators can now be accredited.

He once again challenged content creators to be careful on matters sensational content.

According to him, sensational should not be used to mislead the public just because a content creator wants numbers online.

“There is need for association of content creators in Nakuru. As MCK we are looking forward towards training the content creators before they can be accredited,” stated Mecha.

This even as he revealed that plans are on to set a media Hub in Nakuru soon to assist freelance Journalists and the content creators.

It will offer a platform for practitioners who are not attached to media houses can file their stories.
