Kabazi MCA Dr Peter Mbae now wants expert Counseling done to prisoners before they are released to society.
The MCA says some are released without proper reform and end up messing up more.
He also proposes more capacity building for Prison officers so that they can understand the best prisoners of petty offenses who can bq pardoned.
“It’s so sad the ex-convict did such an act afew days after he was pardoned.I think it’s time we have expert Counseling to prisoners so that when when they are released or pardoned, we have peog already reformed” said Mbae.
Mbae was responding to an incident in Kirinyaga where an ex-convict hacked his mother to death in a suspected land dispute.
The assailant was among 3,908 petty offenders who were pardoned by President Uhuru Kenyatta during Madaraka Day celebrations.
He killed his mother Grace Muthoni Ndambiri in the bathroom at Njoga village on Sunday and went into hiding.
