7 families in Mawanga, Bahati sub-county of Nakuru are counting loss after a fire razed down their houses in a 3 storey building.
The Monday mid-morning fire is said to have started in one of the rooms on the third floor of the story building.
It called for the joint efforts of the county fire engine personnel and the locals to put off the fire which had already caused destruction to property of unknown value.
A lawyer is among the tenants who are counting loss after several clients’ files were destroyed in the incident.
Ms Mercy Wairimu, a tenant, told the media that they heard a noise in one of the houses and after some minutes the storey building was on fire. She says the fire might have been started by a lady who was in disagreement with a lover.
“We heard noises in one of our neighbour’s house. Some minutes later we realized there was fire,” she said.
Area MCA Wahome Jambo Kenya who visited the area said the incident was unfortunate and promised to talk to the County Chief officer Disaster so that the affected families could get some support.
“I will talk to Chief Officer Disaster Management so that the families can get some help in terms of food and mattresses,” said the MCA.
