There will be no more Matatu protests in Nakuru after Riftvalley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya stepped in to restore sanity in the sector.
The operators have had conflict with the county government of Nakuru after they were relocated from CBD in April.
The move according to Governor Lee Kinyanjui was to decongest the town even as Nakuru nears city status.
However the operators had faulted the county government for failing to improve the poor state of the new stages at Kwa Jack,Ziwani and KFA leading to a major demonstrations in CBD.
But a meeting convened by RC Natembeya has resolved to brin the stalemate to an end.
Natembeya who addressed media after the meeting with officials of the Saccos said they had resolved to give goverment time to have a major Matatu stage at the Railways grounds completed.
He revealed that the county has not been able to develop the new stages as the land belong to private owners.
The RC is however quick to note that the county will do all it can to ensure condusive environment at the stages even as the process of developing the new major Matatu stage goes on.
“We have agreed that the government will do the much that can be done at the three stages even as long term solution is sought” said Natembeya.
The RC also using the moment to send a stern warning to individuals taking advantage of the Matatu stalemate to cause havoc in town that the government will not tolerate such.
