The government should fast-track issuance of National Identification cards to youth who are eligible but are yet to get them.
Bahati Parliamentary seat aspirant in Nakuru County Mary Justus Mannabay says the issuance of National IDs will enable the youth to register as voters and participate in the electoral process come 2027.
Addressing press in Bahati Constituency during Chipua Talanta concert held on Sunday November 30, 2025, Mannabay was categorical that young people make the larger percentage of population.
She added that any obstacles towards their participation in electoral process should be addressed.
Mannabay who was in Mbeere North as an agent for DCP candidate, revealed that indeed not many young people turned up to participate in the by-elections.
“I was in Mbeere North as agent and the young people did not turn up to vote meaning something is wrong somewhere and should be rectified by ensuring that young people get IDs and voter’s card,” she said.
She called on young people in Bahati Constituency, Nakuru County and Kenya as a whole to come out and ensure they take lead in voter registration exercise and also participate fully in bringing change come 2027.
According to her, the young people have a voice to be heard and that voice should not be misused by any political class for political gain.
It should be noted that already the aspiring MP for Bahati on DCP Party ticket has sponsored and enabled over 2000 youth register for National IDs and also as voters.
“The young people remain the true light of tomorrow. Proud to have hosted you — the future is undeniably bright, and Bahati must shine. 2027, we take it home together,” she stated on her official Facebook page later on Sunday just hours after the Chipua Talanta concert.
