Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika is trending for reviving a once dormant Theatre at Nakuru’s Bondeni Level 4 Hospital.
The facility was operationalized on Tuesday in what Governor Kihika termed as her continued steps fulfilling her promise to enhance healthcare in Nakuru County.
The operationalization was marked by a highly successful caesarean section operation performed by the Nakuru’s senior medical specialist and obstetrician-gynaecologist, Dr. John Murima.
It should be noted that the theatre was initially built in 1985.
It however remained unused until Governor Kihika revived it as part of a broader initiative to allocate resources to stalled projects.
It should be noted that Governor Kihika has also worked to transform Bondeni Level 4 Hospital, formerly Bondeni Maternity before Kihika directed that the name be changed to Bondeni Level 4 Hospital as services offered go beyond just maternity wing.
Bondeni has long been a major maternity hospital, handling close to 100 deliveries every month.
The introduction of CS surgery, its capacity has now been greatly enhanced, and the heavy burden on Nakuru PGH will be significantly reduced.
Most importantly, the service is fully covered under SHA, ensuring that mothers can access safe, life-saving procedures without financial strain.
“As a proud board member of Bondeni Maternity, I celebrate this achievement and look forward to even greater strides in healthcare delivery,” stated Arnold Okere.
It should be noted that the facility continues to serve families from Kivumbini, Manyani, Lakeview, Bondeni, Freehold, and many other surrounding areas, making this milestone even more impactful for mothers.
When she took over leadership mantle after the 2022 general polls, Governor Kihika made it clear that she has health matters at heart will work towards addressing challenges facing the sector.
And true to her words, she is doing all that pertains in ensuring better healthcare services.
Several Sub counties are now having fully equipped and operational Level 4 hospitals.
