Mama Lucio Rator was on Saturday laid to rest at her Boito Farm,Rongai sub county of Nakuru County.
Lucio, born in 1928, succumbed to short illness on March 26, 2021.
Many who attended her burial service at her farm in Boit,Rongai eulogized her as a devoted Christian and a servant of humanity.
Deputy Presiding Bishop AIC Kenya Paul Kirui who presided over the service termed Mama Lucio a God-fearing servant who served in the church and various mission work.
The clergy added that the late was courageous in her work in the church and shunned spiritual nomadism that is affecting many Kenyans currently.
It is for this reason that the clergy called on locals and Kenyans at large to emulate such virtues and ensue a good relationship bond in families and society.
“We today rest Mama Lucio who was serious with matters of faith and did not move from one church to another as any are doing now. We all need to emulate such virtues for better families and society at large. We should ensure a good relationship with others in society” said Bishop Kirui.
Kericho CECM for Finance and Economic Planning Dr.Patrick Mutai represented Kericho Governor Prof.Paul Chepkwony at the burial ceremony to condle Geofrey Maritim who works at the County Government of Kericho..
The CECM termed the late Lucio as a servant who had had a good relationship with people and God.
Mutai called on leaders to emulate such while serving humanity.
“The late Mama Lucio had a good relationship with everyone both here and even in our County Kericho and that is why we are here to convey our condolences” said Mutai.
The late Lucio Rator(wife to the late Pastor Samuel Rator) is survived by 4 children namely Jane Ruto,Lily Murgor,Emily Kirui, and Geofrey Maritim.
She had 30 grandchildren,53 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Son Geofrey Maritim while addressing mourners, vowed to ensure the unity of the family that was Founded by their parents is maintained.
“Unity as a family is key and that is what my mother stood for. We will try to ensure that we do all we can to maintain what our mother used to do to unite this family. The gap left is huge but we shall try to cope” said Maritim.
Sentiments echoed by the deceased’s daughter-in-law Janet Bii.
She narrated how the late mother-in-law welcomed her in the family with encouragement on how to handle marriage issues.
“She was not only my mother-in-law but a mother to me. She taught me everything, even how to handle marriage issues when things were tough” stated Janet.
Janet vowed to work closely with her husband Geofrey Maritim and the other family members of the Rator family to ensure that the strong family bond remains in place.
“Our mother has left but she taught us many virtues. We shall together with my husband and other family members stand firm and safeguard what Lucio Rator stood for” said Janet.
