Girls from vulnerable families in Kivumbini and Flamingo Wards, Nakuru East sub county of Nakuru county have benefited with sanitary towels courtesy Lions Club Menengai.
The Club has been participating in various charity works to empower various vulnerable groups in the society.
And the Lions Club Menengai Marked Youth skill Day by hosting a session with the youth in Lakeview estate.
The session that took place earlier in the week at Women Like Us centre, saw the youths taken through sessions on Skill development, Leadership and Talent development.
This, the club says is a way of economic sustainability through empowering the youths and women in society to be self reliant.
The session was also attended by Teens Bridge, Kivumbini Oversight Team, Tobias Foundation and Creative Economy Structure Nakuru County.
James Mwaviswa from Creative Economy Structure Nakuru County lauding Lions Club Menengai for the gesture.
He says through such, the vulnerable in the society can be empowered feel part of the web of the society on matters economy.
“I want to commend Lions Club Menengai for remembering the young girls in this area” he said.
Similar sentiments echoed by Martin Lunalo form the Kivumbini Oversight Team who stated that young girls are going through a lot of crisis during this covid-19 pandemic.
Lunalo adds that due to the harsh economic times occasioned by COVID-19, many girls lack sanitary pads.
