Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa’s Lawyer Danstan Omari has spoken following Echesa’s arrest on Thursday afternoon.
Omari says Echesa is in police custody for the alleged extortion, cybercrime bullying, and stage-managing an abduction.
It is alleged that this was targeting Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa.
Echesa will spend the long weekend at the Muthaiga Police Station.
He is expected in court on Tuesday after he was denied police bond.
The former CS is currently the Chairman of the Kenya Water Towers Agency (KWTA).
