KPA Finance Manager Patrick Nyoike,wife to be charged with abuse of office

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) investigators on Sunday arrested the General Finance Manager of the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Mr. Patrick Nyoike and his wife Mrs. Jacinta Wambugu over irregular payments of Kshs.214 million made to a private company linked to the two.

According to statement to newsrooms, the two were arrested alongside a clerical officer with KPA Mr. Isaack Abunga after the Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP) Mr. Noordin Haji gave consent to have the suspects charged with several corruption related offences.

The Commission commenced investigations against the suspects following allegations that KPA made irregular payments amounting to Kshs.214,548,340.80 to Nyali Capital Ltd (NCL) between October 2014 and March 2017.

Mr. Nyoike’s wife is the General Manager of Nyali Credit Ltd.

Other suspects to be charged alongside the three already in custody are, Alfred Hinga Nyoike- Director NCL, Peter Ndichu Kinyanjui- Director NCL.

They are still being sought by EACC.

The suspects expected to be arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Magistrate’s Court Mombasa, on Monday 11th, 2020 to answer to charges of abuse of office, conflict of interest, dealing with suspect property among other offenses.
