Kiuna gives contractor 7 days ultimatum to re-do Njoro-Mau Narok road

Njoro MP Joseph Kiuna has issued a 7 days ultimatum to the contractor who did shoddy work on the Njoro- Mau narok road to re-do the work again as it might drive hundreds of investors in the public transport sector out of the business.

Kiuna said if this is not done, then he shall mobilize Njoro residents to demand that he be blacklisted and also seek court redress.

Speaking while issuing bursary cheques to needy students in Njoro town on Friday, Kiuna said that despite the government disbursing Shs 300 million for the rehabilitation of the road last year, shoddy work has been done and the road is in dire need of repair.

“It was unfortunate that sections of the Njoro- Mau narok road that had been repaired have since worn out four months after, forcing motorists to frequently repair their vehicles due to existence of many pot holes that lead to mechanical breakdown” he said.

Kiuna said that he had spent a lot of time pushing for the road to be tendered for construction only for a “lazy” contractor to get on site and misuse tax payer’s money.

He called on the Nakuru county regional roads engineer to ensure regular inspection of ongoing road works in the area in order to guarantee compliance with required standards.

The county KENha engineer contacted for comment did not answer calls and never replied to text messages.
