Kihika urges Bodaboda operators to maximize on available funds

Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has called on Bodaboda operators to maximize on the available funds for businesses.

Speaking on , Saturday November 29, 2025 when she oversaw the handover of more than 20 motorcycles to boda boda groups across three wards, Kihika said this is an important component of wider empowerment initiative targeting youth and women in Nakuru County.

Kihika also used the moment to encourage boda boda riders to join organized groups so they can fully benefit from our empowerment programme.

“This Financial Year, we have raised the allocation for the programme to Sh126 million, up from last year’s Sh97 million. Through this effort, we support young people with a diverse range of tools and equipment covering beauty, cookery, motorbikes, sports, and small retail enterprises,’ she said.

She further urged boda boda riders to seek loans through her administration low-interest Wezesha Fund, which currently stands at Sh100 million.

According to her, the NaxWest Boda Boda Riders have already secured a loan worth Sh1.7 million.

In addition, her administration has created a dedicated Sh30 million Boda Boda revolving Fund.

“We are finalizing on clear modalities for loan disbursement under this fund,” she assured.

The Governor reiterated her commitment to fostering a conducive environment for the boda boda sector.

She appealed to riders to uphold discipline, respect the law, and maintain order. Beneficiaries were drawn from Rhonda in Nakuru Town West, as well as Kabatini and Dundori Wards in Bahati.

In attendance were MPs David Gikaria and Irene Njoki, CECs Stephen Kuria and Elga Riaga, Chief Officers Francis Njoroge and Victor Achoka, and MCAs led by Deputy Speaker Anthony Kamau, alongside other County officials.
