Susan Kihika has finally taken over as the third Governor Nakuru County.
Kihika was sworn in together with her Deputy David Jones.
The ‘Iron Lady’ as commonly known among Nakuru residents, takes over from Lee Kinyanjui.
She goes into history as the first female Governor of Nakuru.
Ms Kihika, who vied on a UDA ticket, floored Mr Kinyanjui of Jubilee Party after garnering 440,707 votes against the latter’s 225,623 votes.
Kihika- a lawyer by profession became active in politics when she unsuccessfully contested Bahati parliamentary seat.
She would later become the first speaker county Assembly of Nakuru in 2013.
In 2017 she contested the Nakuru Senatorial seat on Jubilee party and won becoming the first female senator of the cosmopolitan county.
Her political journey has been that of strides from one level to another.
Kihika who takes over the CEO of Nakuru haa vowed to ensure development agenda for the people of Nakuru.
