Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has told off those opposed to the Government’s Affordable Housing Project in Bondeni Nakuru.
She commended President William Ruto for enabling and accomplishing the project in Nakuru’s Bondeni estate.
According to Kihika, the project is key to the newest city Nakuru.
Taking to her X(formerly Twitter) official account, she wrote, “Good people here you go! How can anyone oppose this? Asante sana Y.E. @WilliamsRuto for accomplishing this. Nakuru is happy!
#BomaYangu,” she stated.
Her posting comes even as Kenyans questioned the affordability of the houses to the common citizens.
Already, the Ministry of Lands and Housing has invited members of the public to purchase ready units constructed under the government’s affordable housing project in Bondeni, Nakuru County.
According to an advertisement on Tuesday, interested buyers have been advised to visit the site at Bondeni for viewing and later register on the Boma Yangu Portal (https://www.bomayangu.go.ke/) to purchase their units of choice.
The ministry stated that two-bedroom units measuring 64sqm will be going for Ksh.3.15 million while 3-bedroom units measuring 85sqm will cost Ksh.4.25 million.
Buyers will be required to pay a 10% deposit to qualify for the purchase.
Once qualified, a buyer will be offered a rent-to-own home loan at a monthly rate of Ksh.16,997 for the two-bedroom house and Ksh.22,933 for the three-bedroom house.
The project is among the key development pillars in President William Ruto’s government, targeting the over 6.5 million Kenyans living in slums and informal settlements.
