Kihika: Kiptum leaves behind an indelible mark in athletics

Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has mourned departed athlete Kelvin Kiptum as a true legend.

In her message of condolence to family, friends and relatives, Kihika expressed that she had received with shock the sad news of Kiptum’s death.

She termed the late a true legend in the  field of World Marathon.

“With a heavy heart, we bid farewell to Kelvin Kiptum, a true legend in the world of marathons. His remarkable career, marked by multiple victories and a record-breaking tenure, has left an indelible mark on the global athletics community,” she stated.

Kihika added that from his early beginnings at age 13 to his triumphant moments that brought pride to Kenya, Kelvin’s journey was one of unwavering determination and unmatched talent.

She called on Kenyans that even as the nation mourns his untimely departure, there is need to also celebrate the legacy he leaves behind — a legacy of unity, inspiration, and unparalleled athletic prowess.

“Rest in peace, Kelvin, and may your legacy continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew you. My deepest condolences to your family, friends and the entire athletic community,” she said.
