Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika has vowed to ensure a county where young people are empowered with knowledge and moral grounding to thrive.
She spoke when she joined other leaders in Bondeni the celebration of 361 boys from Nakuru Town East Constituency who have successfully undergone a comprehensive rite of passage program.
Kihika lauded the program under the Bondeni Community Empowerment initiative, that equips young boys, many from less privileged families, with crucial life skills, values, and mentorship as they transition into adulthood.
“These boys have received lessons in responsibility, health, financial literacy, and the significance of avoiding drug abuse and crime. I envision a county where every young person is empowered with the knowledge and moral grounding to thrive,” stated Kihika.
By supporting this rite of passage, Kihika stated that they are nurturing responsible, health-conscious young men and demonstrating that their success is achievable.
She used the moment to urge them to focus on education, respect parents, and avoid drugs and alcohol.
The event was also graced by NTE MP David Gikaria, Bahati MP Irene Njoki, CECs Stephen Kuria and Elga Riaga, Chief Officer Victor Achoka, City Manager Gitau Thabanja, MCAs Fadhili Msuri, David Muraya, Neto Sakwa, Anthony Kamau, and David Wathiai, County officials, among others.
