A viaduct will be constructed from Kunste area in Nakuru Town East to Eveready Roundabout in Nakuru Town West.
This was revealed by Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika during the launch of the construction of Rironi-Mau Summit Highway by President William Ruto.
“As part of upgrading and expanding the 175km road, a viaduct will be built along the highway from Kunste Hotel to Eveready point to ease traffic congestion in the city, while simultaneously enhancing its infrastructure to full city standards. The dualling will eliminate persistent gridlock, prevent costly wastage of productive hours, and significantly reduce accidents along the main Northern Corridor transport system,” stated Kihika.
Kihika pointed out that her administration anticipates vibrant urbanization along the modernized road, smoother movement of goods and services, increased property values along the corridor, and employment opportunities for hundreds of young people in Nakuru.
With the Sh170 billion road expected to be completed in April 2027, Nakuru City has been selected to host the 2027 Madaraka Day celebrations at Afraha Stadium— a venue whose Phase 2 construction is currently underway through a partnership with the Kenya Defence Forces.
