Nyandarua residents have decried low funding to Law Courts, posing challenge to service delivery.
They say enhanced funding will help address some of the challenges not only in Nyandarua’s Olkalou Law Courts, but within various courts across the country and improve service delivery

They spoke on Thursday November 20, 2025 during public participation on Budgeting for Proposed Judiciary and Judicial Service Commission budgets for FY 2026/27 and Medium Term (2026/27-2028/29).
The Forum took place at Olkalou Law Courts Grounds in Nyandarua County.
Presiding Judge Nyandarua High Court and Olkalou Law Courts Justice Kiarie Waweru Kiarie noted that members of the public have great say as the Judiciary cannot exist without the people.

He cited lack of sound system at Ol Kalou Law courts, attributing it to lack of financial resources.
According to the Presiding Judge, this has continued to affect the service delivery with consumers of service having to be always reminded to raise their voice when in court so as to be heard.
“We need to have resources so that we can have Public Address system in our courts. I know of very few Law Courts that have the PA system,” he said.
Sentiments echoed by head of station Principal Magistrate Judicaster Nthuku.
The Registrar of the Environment and Land Court (ELC) in the country Hon. Rose Makungu represented Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Hon. Winfridah Boyani Mokaya.

In a speech read by Hon Makungu, the Chief Registra reiterated that the people who are consumers of Service have a right to also get feedback on financial matters in the Judiciary.
The Judiciary is in need of 45 billion shillings for the next financial year 2026/2027.
The Registra noted that the Judiciary continue to face financial challenges that undermine the administration of justice.

In her presentation, Director Finance Judiciary Beatrice Kamau highlighted how the Judiciary performed in the last financial year.
She noted that in the last three years, Judiciary has been receiving limited funding despite the expansion in terms of service delivery.
This, even as budget absorption had increased from 95 percent to 98 percent as at last financial year.
Director Finance and Administration Judicial Service Commission Rebecca Kiplagat assured members of the public of proper management of finances channeled to Judiciary towards enhanced service delivery to the people.
