Kenyans on social media demand the release of KTN’s Doreen Biira

Kenyans on Monday took to social media platforms demanding the release of KTN’s Business News Anchor Joy Doreen Biira who was arrested on Sunday evening for allegedly sharing live pictures of clashes in a Kingdom in Uganda.

Using the hash tag #FreeJoyDoreen, Kenyans trended on Twitter and Facebook platforms demanding for her immediate release.

Her arrest comes amid clashes in the Western part of Uganda with 55 people feared dead so far.

Sources have it that Doreen Biira alongside her fiancé were picked from her home in Kasese by uniformed men and has since not been traced.

King Charles Wesley Mumbere of Rwenzururu, which is part of Uganda is accused of inciting violence after militia-men reportedly attacked a police post in his Kasese hometown.

Charles Wesley Mumbere, a former nurse and critic of the country’s long-time president, Kaguta Museveni was also arrested after the killings and accused of inciting the violence.
