The Kenya National Secretaries Assosciation-KENASA is on the move to have a bill in place to foster the establishment of Board to manage office administration commonly known as Secretaries.
This is according to KENASA chairman Andrew Osundwa who says the profession is key in management of various companies and therefore should be taken seriously.
Speaking in Nakuru on Thursday during the annual KENASA conference attended by members from across the country and the neighbouring counties,Mr.Osundwa said the offcie administration is like any other profession that should be taken seriously.
While noting that there has been a notion that the profession is for those with lower grades,the KENASA chair they will establish a school that will see the members trained on professionalism to meet the market demand.
He added that KENASA will be registred as any other unions so as to address the welfare and interests of the 5500 members in the region.
“This is a profession that should be taken with seriousness since they play a key role in Management.We look forward to a bill that will establish a board to manage the office administration.We shall also establish a school that to ensure professionalism as far as training is concerned” he said.
Acting Human resource Development in the Ministry of Public service who also represented the PS Mr.Simon Angote said the government is committed to ensuring professionalism and will do all it calls for to ensure professional training for the office administrators(secretaries).
The opening ceremony of the conference was also attended by Nakuru County CEC in charge of Public Service Mwangani Mwania.
The Kenya National Secretaries Association (KENASA) is a Professional Association for Secretaries in Kenya that provides a Forum for the Secretarial Professionals to interact and deliberate on emerging issues affecting the secretarial profession in regard to the standards, ethics and professionalism.
The association draws its membership from both public and private sectors with objective to promote the profile of the secretaries through provision of information, education and training and to set standards of excellence in service delivery to be recognized by all stakeholders.
