Kairu’s ally Ezekiel Kamau takes it tough on Nakuru MCAs for failure in oversight role

Nakuru Gubernatorial Aspirant 2027 Joel Maina Kairu’s ally Mr. Ezekiel Kamau has taken it tough with the current Members of the County Assembly of Nakuru.

Speaking in Kihingo Ward of Njoro Constituency on Thursday October 10, 2025 during the burial of former Kihingo MCA George Kiere’s grandmother Milkah Wanjiku Kiere, Ezekiel told off MCAs for failing to defend the interests of the people.

In what seems as words directed to the area MCA Simon Kamau Karanja alias Kamum who was in attendance, Ezekiel who has been vocal on matters governance in Nakuru was categorical that the County Assembly has failed in mandate of oversight.

Ezekiel who was representing Kairu at the burial just after delivering Kairu’s message of condolence to the family, used the moment to call on MCAs to wake up from their slumber and serve the interests of the people.

He added that even in Kihingo where the burial was taking place, roads were in poor state as the last time they were done is during Kiere’s time.

The vocal good governance advocate revealed that he had already forwarded a complaint letter to the County Assembly of Nakuru over various issues.

The letter is dated September 12, 2025 and addressed to the clerk under Ref: Complaint on the Inability of the County Assembly to Execute Its Mandate.

“I am writing to formally register a complaint regarding the apparent failure by the Nakuru County Assembly to effectively execute its constitutional and statutory mandate. This issue is of great concern to me as a resident and voter of Nakuru County, as it directly impacts governance,
accountability, and service delivery to the people. It is with deep disappointment that I have observed a growing sense of laxity and negligence among members of the assembly in performing their critical oversight role, as provided under Article 185 of the Constitution of Kenya and Section 8 of the County Governments Act, 2012,” reads part of the letter.

Ezekiel added that recently, Nakuru County has been thrust into the national spotlight for all the wrong reasons, attracting public shame and widespread media coverage.

He says this has been caused by serious gaps in governance, which the assembly has failed to address.

“It is also apparent that the Speaker of the County Assembly has failed to provide the necessary leadership to steer the house in addressing these urgent matters. Members must now rethink their leadership choices and urgently seek alternative solutions to restore the integrity of the assembly,” he stated.

In an interview with famousnakuru.co.ke, Ezekiel revealed that he is yet to receive response on the same.

This, even as Kihingo MCA Karanja vowed to follow up the matter with the clerk.
