Out of the three women who had been shortlisted for CECs positions, only one, Immaculate Njuthe Maina, has made it past the Nakuru County Assembly appointments committee.
After vetting by the committee chaired by Nakuru County Speaker Joel Kairu, only Ms. Immaculate Njuthe Maina who had been shortlisted to be the County Executive Committee member for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives made it through.
Ms. Maina is currently working as the Centre Director for Kenya Agriculture, and Livestock Research Organization (KARLO) in Njoro. She’s a holder of a PhD in Agriculture and has over 18 years work experience.
Ms. Halima Gababa Abdulahi and Lucy Wanjiku Kariuki the other two ladies in the list did not make it through. Halima who is currently working in County Government of Nakuru as Senior Public Health Officer in charge of Development Control had applied as CEC for Youth, Culture, Gender, Sports and Social Services.
She holds a Degree in Environmental Health Science, Masters in Public Health, Masters in Development Studies and. Currently pursuing PhD in Development Studies and a working experience of 17 years.
Ms. Lucy Wanjiku Kariuki had applied as CEC for Lands, Housing and Planning. She is a Professional Engineer, registered by Engineers Registration Board with a work experience of 18 years. Currently, Ms. Kariuki is working with Kenya Pipeline as Senior Engineer in charge of Health, Safety and Environment Western region.
Others who didn’t make it past the vetting committee are Mr. Raymond Komen, a close ally to Governor Lee Kinyanjui and Joseph Wainaina Kiuna.
Komen, a former Chief of Staff in the previous administration had been shortlisted as CEC for Education, ICT and e-Government. Mr. Kiuna, a former CEO Britam Insurance Company and Real Insurance Company had applied for CEC for Finance and Economic Planning. He holds a Degree in Economics from Kenyatta University and has over 20 years work experience in the Private sector.
